South Point High School Athletic Foundation

Project Goal: $5,500,000

Lineberger Stadium Athletic Complex Project

At the heart of our athletic programs continued success is the tremendous support that South Point has always received from our community. One opposing coach said, “When playing South Point, you feel like you not only have to beat their team, you have to beat their community as well.” In order to continue providing the very best facilities, it has become critically necessary to make multiple improvements and renovations to Lineberger Stadium. Our supporters in the greater South Point area have always risen to the occasion to help invest in our young people and have given their time, talents, and financial support. Help us in this much needed endeavor to ensure we have the facilities needed to continue the Red Raider tradition of excellence.

“When playing South Point, you feel like you not only have to beat their team, you have to beat their community as well.”

Tradition Never Graduates

Excellence is woven into the fabric of South Point High School and its athletic programs. Since the school’s inception in 1969, the Red Raiders have developed a proud and rich tradition of success in our boys and girls athletic teams with many victories including conference, regional, and state championships. Yet, winning alone has not accounted for South Point’s respected tradition. Our student-athletes are also instructed to strive for excellence in the classroom, display good sportsmanship, respect their opponent and be outstanding citizens in our community. Ours teams are consistently ranked at the top in the region in GPA’s.

This standard of success has been no better exemplified than by our football program which has garnered consistent statewide recognition and thus had a positive impact on all our athletic programs. The home of the Red Raiders, “Lineberger Stadium,” has admirably served our school, athletic teams, supporters, and community. It has been a great facility for our football, boys and girls soccer, track and cross-country teams along with our cheerleaders, marching band and JROTC. South Point High School and the surrounding community are intertwined in a unique way shared by few others. Lineberger Stadium has represented both so well for over 50 years.
